The fiery energies of summer begin working on us long before the calendar says it is the solstice. As thew weather warms, we feel the itch to get outside in the sun with the waves at our feet. There ample inspiration and a deep desire to gather with loved ones and new friends alike. The solstice is a time for turning to the sun as we see it in the sky but also as we experience it within ourselves. Rays of sunlight can highlight but they can also create shadows.
What does your inner sun, your solar self, feel like? Have you embraced your strengths and personal power, does it elude you, or do you give it away? This year's solstice is challenging this connection to our power by guiding us into deeper participation in our life, especially in our close relationships. If we don't feel solid within ourselves, how can we feel solid within our relationships?
In this circle, we will be talking about the light and dark within ourselves, personal power, trusting oneself, and how we show up in our personal relationships.
We will work with our feelings through an active meditation technique called Breathwork. This technique is similar to yoga breathwork in that you be controlling your breath and receive the benefits of stress reduction and relaxation; where it differs is that this three part breath creates an emotional and energetic release.
The first breath goes into the lower belly where our pain, sadness, shame, and anger lie. The second breath pulls those feelings and other parts of the shadow self up to the heart to be cleansed in love. The last breath lets it all go.
This self-healing practice has been described as "years of therapy in one session" and will leave you feeling clearer, lighter, more present, and at home in your body.
No experience with any form of breathwork is necessary. Please bring a mat, sweater or sweatshirt if you tend to get cold, journal and pen, and any other supportive tools such as crystals you would like to have with you for your journey.
